Handmade Thursday: My Grandma’s Scrapbook

Scrapbooking has been a passion of mine.  I love photos and I love being creative.  So, putting pictures to paper in a creative way is just fun for me.  For the past few years I have been scrapbook crazy working on my own personal books about my life as well as books for others and then I just got wiped out.  It became too much and I got tired of it.  However, one of my Grandmothers recently asked me if I would put together a book for her.

She had a bad fall about a year ago and she is quite old so it was devastating to her physical health.  She spent a good amount of time in a rehab center and then has been home bound for the last 6 months.  During this time she had all kinds of visitors and cards and flowers. She just felt so loved and appreciated.  She decided that she wanted to put these cards in a book so that she could easily look through them and remember this time and how loved she felt.  She asked if I would do it.  Of course I said yes!  So, I have had these cards and a few pictures for some time now and have just started to work on the book. What a lazy procrastinator I am!!!

So, for the next few weeks I am going to be working on this book and sharing with you all the pages I put together.  Just to catch a glimpse at the life of my grandmother and to help give you some inspiration for your own personal scrapbooks.  Hope you have fun and feel free to tell me what you think or give suggestions.  Oh!  And I’d love to know what you are currently scrapbooking and see photos if you have them.  Sharing page layouts is a great way to help others and fun to see how creative we all can be.

My mom and I looked at some of my Grandmas photos one day and came across her 80th birthday party.  At this party she had all of her family and closest friends.  We thought it would be a great way to start a book that showcases how loved she felt.  So here’s the first two pages. I’ve begun working on the next two pages but will show them to you next week.  See you then!
