We have looked at some of the most tender moments of a wedding, which must be caught on camera, such as the grooms first look, the father of the bride’s first looks and the blindfolded kiss before the ceremony. We have also discussed capturing the most sentimental article of clothing in the wedding – the bride’s something blue. Today, we are talking about a new trend that I love – the bride and groom holding hands before the ceremony. It is similar to the blindfolded kiss, but instead of the bride seeing the groom as they kiss, neither person sees the other. Like the blindfolded kiss, it is a time where the couple can meet without breaking tradition. This usually means meeting on opposite sides of a wall or door. This may mean simply holding hands and talking or saying a prayer together. Unlike the blindfolded kiss, this meeting is only meant to provide some reassurance and calm each other’s nerves.
I love it, because it is a moment of calm for the happy couple before the hustle and bustle of the day truly sets in as they become husband and wife. It is the couple’s last moments as singletons before they take the plunge, and it is sweet to see them spend it together. I love that when the bride and groom are nervous about beginning a new chapter of their lives to henceforth be known as ‘Mr. & Mrs.’, they go to each other for comfort. It is definitely not a moment to be missed. The newlyweds as well as their friends and family will want to be able to look back on those photos for years to come. If you are planning your wedding, you may want to include this new trend. If you do, be sure to have a friend or photographer nearby.
