Everything about the bride is beautiful on the day of her wedding. Every element of the bride beams with beauty, even those that aren’t actually on here, namely the bouquet. Although flowers are an easy way to have a beautiful bouquet, there are alternatives that make for an equally beautiful bouquet. Your wedding theme and creativity are your only limits. If you are in need of some inspiration though, here are some ideas to help guide you along.

The most popular substitute for flowers are paper flowers. This can be a great option for a few reasons.

For the frugal brides, they cost significantly less than real flowers.

For the DIY brides, you can opt to make the flowers and arrangements yourself!

And above all, for the sentimental bride, paper flowers, unlike real flowers, last forever! They are sweet momentos that can be used around the house for years to come. They also come in many styles from true imitation to delightfully homemade.

If you like the idea of faux flowers, but want material that is a little more sturdy than paper, fabric flowers may be for you. If you want to make your own flowers, you can find resources here.

Another trend emerging for alternative bridal bouquets is the use of buttons. Although this may sound a bit odd, they can be very lovely. They can also be done in several styles, depending on colors and decoration.

From whimsical to casual, buttons can fit many different wedding themes. Usually, jewelry adorns the buttons, but of course, you can use anything you’d like.

Another bouquet trend reminiscent of another era is the use of feathers. Feathers are eternally elegant and nowadays generally used as a throwback of the Roaring 20′s.

They can be used for any theme, though from natural to classic chic. It all depends on the types of feathers you use and how the bouquet is decorated. For instance, for an elegant wedding, incorporate pearls and other jewelry into the bouquet decorations.

Also, use wispy and exotic feathers, such as peacock feathers. For a natural or rustic wedding, use twine and possibly a few flowers, twigs and other natural elements. You can also use feathers of birds that are found around that area to tie in the location a bit more.

One of the newest and brightest types of bouquets to emerge are jewelry bouquets. Jewelry is normally used in many bouquets. It appears in bouquets of real flowers, fake flowers and other creative types.

It’s quite rare to find a bouquet made entirely of jewelry, though. It is the style becoming popular for handmade brides, though.

If your wedding theme is something specific, such as a holiday, old movies, a magic show, or otherwise, incorporate it into your bouquet.

This can mean using flags and sparklers for Independence day, candy for carnival theme, or a magician’s wand and playing cards for a magic show theme.

You can also integrate your wedding location as well. A seashell bouquet is the perfect tropical touch on the beach.

And, a wheat bouquet is sweet and simple for a farm wedding.

For something to truly set you apart, you can also forget about the bouquet completely and use other things in it’s place. For brides looking for a truly vintage look, a hand fan may be a good choice. Ribbons and streamers are great for colorful and simple weddings.

A pinwheel may be ideal for whimsical or summery wedding themes. For sunny destination weddings, a parasol may be most suitable. Or, for cold winter nuptials, hand muffs may be the best option.

No matter which accessory you choose to walk down the aisle with, just make sure that it compliments you and your wedding theme. And above all, enjoy your your special day as the beaming bride!

These are some really great ‘alternative bouquets’ can I add a couple of suggestions
1. A bouquet made entirely from foliage – colorful leaves are great in autumn/fall but you can also use croton and coleus most of the year.
2. A bouquet of vegetables. One of the prettiest Ive ever seen was made from kale and Brussel’s sprouts, a delightful green a cream theme with small purple accents.
