Now I Know Why He Was So Quiet….

The other evening I was making dinner.  Now usually this involves chopping, dicing and entertaining my one year old, Avery.  But this time was different.  I chopped, I diced, hmmm… no Avery.  I simmered and seared…still no Avery.  But then I heard a little giggle from behind me.  And when I turned around I was reminded of why quiet is never a good thing when you have a one year old running around.

Really, Really mad.

He got mad when I took it away.

And Threw his little floured self on the living room floor.

Then he stomped off leaving little baby flour footprints.

A trouble making baby. Oh. the joys of motherhood!

I love this! My youngest is now 7, so we don’t get these types of messes anymore. I do clearly remember her dumping a bag of sugar all over my kitchen. Then trying to clean it up with a glass of water. Then deciding she did a good enough job and left it there to dry- on a hot day. This was one of the worst cleaning jobs I’ve ever had lol. Wish I would have taken pics to prove to her that she wasn’t always the angel she claims she was!ReplyCancel

What is a home without children? Quiet.~Henny Youngman
Yet in your case the question should be what is a house with a quiet child? Trouble. I really enjoyed the pictures you posted. Especially the picture of the little flour footprints when your son stomped off. My sons are 6 and 9 so I have not had an incident like this occur in a while. However, your post certainly brings back memories. I remember I time when my son was supposed to be watching television while I vacuumed. I was pleasantly surprised to find him in the tub bathing himself with baby oil. One can only imagine how many washings it took to get that off his skin and out of his hair. At the time moment the last thing you want to do is laugh but that is a memory I think back on years later and can laugh for hours about it. Enjoy these quiet moments because I am sure this won’t be last time your son finds himself in trouble.ReplyCancel

Thanks for sharing your experiences, ladies. Avery is my youngest, and probably last child (our other two are 4 and 7). So I do find myself enjoying these moments a lot more than I might have a few years ago. the flour prints is my favorite pics too. It was sad and cute at the same time watching him stomp off with little puffs of flour exploding from his feet.
I am sure that we will have many more of these experiences with our curious and rambunctous boys. I will continue to share all that are fit for viewing (my middle child had a tendency to be too, eh..comfortable, going #2; I won’t subject you to that.)ReplyCancel

“When they are quiet, you know they’re up to no good”

Even though I don’t have any children yet, I know how much fun yet how surprising they can be. Even though children get into things that make significant messes, it’s through these events that make us look back upon and smile. I think through this blog, you did just that. I love how you captured one of the unique moments in a baby’s life, and shared it with the world. One day you will look back upon it and be able to share it with him when he gets older.ReplyCancel

I know right? It’s easy for me (Auntie) to share a good laugh and smile at how adorable he is, but sometimes he’s a monster. Poor Bonnie. Thanks for checking us out Tina! I’m responding here because Bonnie’s had her hands full with her 3 boys lately. Any advice for when you feel like you are completely going insane you can offer my sweet sister-in-law? ThanksReplyCancel
